The California Crown, a racing and entertainment concept unlike any other, launched in 2024 by bringing the thrill of high-speed Thoroughbred races and heart-pounding entertainment to the historic Santa Anita Park.

In partnership with hospitality leader The h.Wood Group, the inaugural event played host to more than 20,000 fans and welcomed VIP guests including Beyonce, JAY-Z, Sharon Stone, Cher, Kathy Griffin, Mario Lopez, Richard Stark, Laurie Lynn Stark, Jesse Metcalf, Allison Janney, Damson Idris, Rachel Harris, Bobby Flay, Symba, and the Compton Cowboys among others.

The record-setting day of racing, highlighted by more than $23.5 million in handle, was capped off by live performances by Gryffin, Shaboozey, Elan Bia, Lil Yachty, Frank Walker, Zack Bia, and more.

Among the 10-race card, The California Crown (G1) presented by SirDavis American Whisky was won by Argentina’s Subsanador and ridden by jockey Mike Smith. → In addition to the $1 million purse, the first-ever California Crown championship trophy designed by Chrome Hearts was presented to the winning connections. → The one-of-a-kind Chrome Hearts trophy, standing nearly 20” tall in solid Sterling Silver and finished in 22K gold, features the Chrome Hearts signature CH Pyramid Plus mofit series.

Inaugurated in 1935, the Santa Anita Derby is the signature West Coast stepping stone on the official Road to the Kentucky Derby. Since its inception, the iconic showcase has produced countless racing legends, including Affirmed and Justify, while 10 victorious horses overall have galloped into the winner’s circle at Churchill Downs.

Contested by 3-year-olds at a distance of 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) for a total purse of $750K , the Santa Anita Derby remains the premier annual event at the historic Santa Anita Park.

First run in 1952, the Florida Derby has evolved into a prestigious prep race on the official Road to the Kentucky Derby. Many Thoroughbreds embark upon their Triple Crown aspirations in the Gulfstream Park race, with 20 Florida Derby winners going on to taste the glory of victory at Churchill Downs, Pimlico, or Belmont Park.
